Visualizing scale

A great collection of scale visualizations. Worth a quick browse if you want to regain some perspective on the universe (photo from www.rense.com).

Signal Versus Noise is the blog of 37 Signals, a company which has shattered the usefulness to complexity ratio with apps I use daily such as Basecamp and Backpack. More recently they are making a name for themselves by moving beyond setting an example, and actually empowering application designers and programmers with the knowledge to build their own sustainable businesses with publications such as:
Intro to patterns (on information architecture)
Getting Real (book on how to build your own software success story)
Highly recommended.

The imagess at rence.com would make great wallpapers, if they were a decent res. and the text was either
    a) missing
    or
    b) more integral into the design.
